What’s The Tea Sis ☕️

Hello all my Rose Buds and Flowers! I’ve missed you sooooo much! Since we’ve been stuck in Quarantine Land, I now have a little more time to get back to blogging! Yaaay! So I’ve decided to dedicate Tuesday’s to one of my favorite drinks….Tea 🍵

Isn’t my Frog’s Lily Pad Tea Infuser just the cutest! 🐸 Oh and check out my DIY sugar cubes😁

Although I do love me some plain old black tea. I often gravitate towards the more adventurous flavors like today’s flavor COTTON CANDY 🍭. Yes I said Cotton Candy!

How I prepared? I used to work for a Risk Management Firm, and we had a client who brought in his own Irish Tea to meetings, and he always requested cream. So, one day I decided to try it and was hooked! Well, I said all that to say; I usually always prepare my tea with cream now! With the Cotton Candy Tea, I used Leaner Creamer Original This brand is quite expensive. However, I purchased mine on sale at Home Goods, in the food section. I also used Golding Farms Raw Organic Honey This honey is not as sweet as Wildflower Honey, so I also added (1) pack of Organic Sweetleaf Stevia and served warm.

So what did I think? I loved it! This tea definitely smells like cotton candy! However in my opinion this tea has more raspberry overtones and although it tastes like you’re drinking a sweet treat; it doesn’t really taste like cotton candy.

Would I purchase again? Yes, and I recommend purchasing from Adagio Tea. They have very affordable cute little sample tins that you can purchase to get a feel for the tea to determine if you like it or not, without breaking the bank! Plus they sent me 5 days of sample teas to test and discuss with their online CommuniTEA. How cute is that!? BTW, we’ll discuss those sample teas soon.

Ingredients

Blended With Honeybush Tea, Rose Hips, Hibiscus, Apple Pieces, Natural Raspberry Flavor, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Raspberries, Natural Strawberry Flavor, Strawberries & Raspberry Leaves, Sprinkles

Twisted Cotton Candy Flavor! Comes in a very cute Sample Tea Tin for only $5.00

Spring Break / The Best of the New Old South!

City Market  (Trolley Stop #2)

I’m originally from Florida, so we have traveled to Florida on Vacation a million times! Therefore, needless to say my Daughter is burned out on Disney and Universal Studios!  So last year, for my  Daughter’s Senior Year in High School she asked to go somewhere different, other than the usual Spring Break Spot of Panama City Beach (PCB).

So in true Go 2 Rose  fashion, I began to look for somewhere different to Vacation.  I came across the Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans, which turned out to be an awesome experience!!  This year is my daughter’s first year in College (Spelman) and for her Winter Break we traveled down to Miami, FL.  For Spring Break we wanted to do something different, so we headed down to Savannah GA for a truly different and unique experience!

March is a great time to visit Savannah because Savannah holds one of the largest  St.Patrick’s Day  Celebrations in the Country and they start celebrating about 2 weeks in advance! They even turn all of there fountains in the  city green!!  How cool is that?

💚💚The fountains were turned Green to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day💚💚

So the first stop on our Trolley Route that we decided to get off on was City Market.  This is a very diverse and unique  little area of Savannah that is home to a mixture of historical monuments, family owned restaurants, shopping boutiques, and modern and hip bars.

My daughter and I spent a lot of time in City Market.  We stopped for some sweet treats and ice cream at the Savannah Candy Kitchen; where they make The Best Ever!!! Pralines and Taffy and hand out FREE samples!  This little Candy Shop also has a quaint little ice cream parlor where we enjoyed classic flavors of ice cream (Savannah Food Review Coming Soon)

We walked through the City Market square taking in the historical monument sites such as the Haitian Monument for Haitian Slaves who fought in the American Revolution. We made our way across the street to the First African Baptist Church. (as seen on RHOA) Where we paid a small Tour Fee of $7.00 for adults ($6.00 for Students)  The Tour Guides walk you through the church while giving you the historical facts of how this church was the very first African American Church in the United States.  How this church was built by slaves, was apart of the underground railroad system to help assist slaves to there freedom, and how the church later became an important meeting place for Civil Rights activist.(African American Guide to Savannah Coming Soon).  We made our way around several little shops and stopped by  Byrd’s Famous Cookies (Where they also give away FREE samples) on our way back to our Trolley Stop.

Now we did take another trip back to City Market the night before we left to go back to Atlanta. The night time is just as eclectic as the day time with everyone from Families with Kids, SCAD Students, 30’s and 40’s crowds, as well as plenty of Senior Citizens.  However the night Crowd was much larger and the streets were much busier!!  For example the Pizza Shop had a very small steady flow of Customers during the mid-day.  However, the line and wait for tables were very long on Saturday night.  We had to wait a good 45 min to get our take out slices of Pizza!  (Savannah Food Review Coming Soon)  The streets lit up with Bars on wheels,  green neon glow in the dark necklaces, and were lined with Green TuTu wearing young women and men everywhere!  Very fun atmosphere I must say!!🎆🎆🎆

Meet me in Trap! Benzino’s Crab Trap that is (Restaurant Review)

Hello Dolls, Divas, and Foodies!

I had the pleasure of attending the Grand Opening of Benzino’s Crab Shack in Marietta, GA (Northern Suburb of Atlanta).  To those of you who aren’t familiar with Benzino (real name Raymond Scott) He is a Rapper, Co-Founder of the Source and Hip Hop Weekly Magazines, and former Cast Member of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta.

I had been hearing the buzz about Benzino’s Crap Trap opening in the Metro Atlanta area, and my first thoughts were, “Okay Benzino’s from Boston, but does that mean that he really knows about Crabs?”  So I was very excited to be able to attend and get an inside view of the restaurant  on the day of Grand Opening! So here goes….

The Restaurant is located at 2856 Delk Rd. Marietta, GA 30067. Which is in Cobb County and  just about 15 minutes north of Atlanta. The restaurant set up is much different then what I expected (much smaller).  In my opinion the restaurant is mostly set up for Customer’s to come in, order their Crabs, and leave. Although there are tables for sit down dining, it just wasn’t enough to accommodate the huge crowd that showed up for the Grand Opening.

Lets talk about the Grand Opening.  Okay, so if you know about Benzino, you know he’s going to do it BIG.  The grand opening included Benzino’s Chrome Painted Maserati parked in front of the resteraunt, Red Carpet, Local Hip Hop and R&B Radio Station V103, a Dancing “Mr. Crabington” Crab Mascot, a number of Reality Stars, and Hip Hop Industry Socialites that included: Benzino’s Significant Other Althea (of course) Jazze Fe, Honey Boo Boo, Mama June, Sugar Bear (and the entire family- now we gots to get the ☕️ on that one?!?), Sarah Oliver from the Bad Girls Club, Suga Shane, Bobby Valentino, and host of Benzino’s and Althea’s Family Members and Friends.  Not to mention a Slew of Customers!

Althea with her Friends and Family enjoying Crab Legs

Althea with her Friends and Family enjoying Crab Legs…BTW check out Benzino’s Business Partner Dave Mays running the register!

Atmosphere: The atmosphere is really laid back…I mean flip flops and jeans laid back!  But, I think that is the atmosphere that Benzino intended to create. The Tv’s were turned up loud, playing New and Classic Hip Hop Videos.  Now, I absolutely loved the Vibe!!!  But the jury is still out on whether or not I would invite my middle aged East Cobb White Soccer Mom Friends to a sit down dinner here or not.

The Service: The staff was very helpful and friendly and seemed to work very well under pressure.  Funny thing; is that all of the staff members were either Benzino’s Friends or Relatives.  Even Dave Mays who is the Creator of the Source, Co-founder of Hip Hop Weekly, and Business Partner of Benzino, was spotted working the register! Leaves me to wonder, who’s going to run this restaurant on a day to day basis?  I also had the opportunity to go back to the kitchen and see how things were running behind the scenes.  I was both shocked and impressed to see that Benzino and his Dad were both in the kitchen working very hard!  Benzino even took the time to answer questions for me and other Media and take photos. He also offered us a Complementary bag of his Crabs!  I have to say that Benzino’s down to earth, humble, and nice attitude gave me a new found respect for him!  Totally not what you would expect from the Owner, who just so happens to be one of the biggest influences in Hip Hop!  Hats off to You Benzino! While in the kitchen, I also had the opportunity of meeting Benzino’s Significant Other Althea Heart.  She seemed a little less patient than her hubby, but I chopped that up to her being a pregnant women in a hot and busy kitchen. But other than that she was very sweet.

The Menu: The Menu is simple and to the point! You have a choice of 1lb of Snow Crab Legs for $17.99 (Very reasonable for the Cobb County Area) or Zino’s Crab-Tastic Combo for $19.99 (comes with Steamed Crab Legs, Corn on the Cobb, (2) Hush Puppies and Cole Slaw.)  You get your choice of Zino’s Special Sauce for the Crabs: Spicy, Mild, or Lemon Garlic.  There’s also an array of other sides and desserts to choose from such as French Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Island Way Gourmet Fruit Sorbet, and Cake. Drinks consist of Zino’s Heavenade, Ice Tea, Bottled Water, and Soda. All reasonably priced in my opinion. Just a side note: The Menu gives Patrons a little background about  how a 10 yr old Benzino and his Father (known as Shnopps) sold Crabs and Corn out of the back of a van in Boston. I thought that was nice.

Okay….Okay! I know what your thinking!  Enough about all of that other stuff!  How were the Crabs!!!  So Benzino made good on his promise and sent me home with a Bag of Crabs and Corn on the Cob, that I shared with my daughter. The Crabs were very fresh tasting and covered in the Spicy Zino’s Special Sauce.  I don’t know what Benzino put in that Sauce!?! But he definitely has a WINNER!  The Sauce had a sweet and sour, spicy, Barbecue, zing type flavor!  I am a self proclaimed Greedy Girl and I have eaten in many places and several countries and I have never tasted Crab Legs like that!  The corn was good also, nice and sweet, no complaints….So Remember earlier when I said that I might not invite my White Soccer Mom Friends to a sit down dinner at Benzino’s….well I would definitely advise them to order take out.  Listen Metro ATLiens and Visitors, Benzino’s Crab Trap is a must try!  The Crabs are Delicious!!  I will definitely be going back to try the other flavors, sides, and desserts!

Part 2 of Spring Break 2K15 -New Orleans-Explore the Gulf Coast

Explore the Gulf Coast! Biloxi Mississippi / New Orleans,

I’m originally from Florida, so we have traveled to Florida on Vacation a million times! Therefore, needless to say my Daughter is burned out on Disney and Universal Studios!  This is my  Daughter’s Senior Year in High School and she is asking to go somewhere different, other than the usual Spring Break Spot of Panama City Beach (PCB).

So in true Go 2 Rose  fashion, I began to look for somewhere different to Vacation.  I came across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  I know what your thinking “Mississippi?”  “Vacation, New Orleans Spring Break?” I was thinking the same thing!!! However, I was pleasantly surprised.  The Missisppi Gulf Coast is lined with beautiful White Sandy Beaches and Biloxi is like a mini Vegas and April is a great time to Visit New Orleans because the French Quarters Festival was held on the 2nd week of April this year!   Great Place to Vacation!!!

So I’ll final stop on Spring Vacation is New Orleans Beeeeby!!! We  stayed at the Sheraton Hotel in Metairie, just outside of New Orleans.  This Hotel is not as Fancy Smancy as the Golden Nugget, but that okay because most of our time in New Orleans was spent outside the Hotel!  This Hotel is very clean and quiet but the parking Deck is a complete nightmare!  Continue reading
